Google Earth finds Ancient Fish Trap

Google Earth helped to find a huge ancient fish trap in a estuary. The 260m (853ft) man-made V-shaped structure could be more than 1,000 years old, experts believe. It is believed that the fish trap was designed to catch migratory fish, such as salmon and sea trout going up the River Teifi at Poppit in Pembrokeshire.

The structure is entirely underwater and it has never been surveyed before. Now, research is being undertaken between Pembrokeshire College and the Dyfed Archaeological Trust to find out more about the ancient structure.

Boy, 6, climbs Five Everests!

Tom_Fryers

A British boy named Tom Fryers has scaled the equivalent of five Mount Everests at just the age of six. How? Fryers, who nearly died at birth from breathing problems, has trekked up 214 of the Lake District's highest peaks, after he conquered his first peak at the age of 3 and a half. Tom even raised more than 2,000 pounds for the hospital that saved his life

The little boy completed the 480-mile trek in 62 days, which totals to an average of four peaks a day, and in one grueling 15-mile session he conquered the two highest peaks in England, 3,162ft Scafell and 3,209ft Scafell Pike.

Tom said during the challenge: "I have loved climbing mountains ever since I climbed my first Wainwrights."

Tom, who was accompanied by his dad Paul, 41, of Oxspring, South Yorks, gave the cheque to a special-care baby unit in Sheffield. Mr Paul said his son was born prematurely and raising funds for the trust was a way to say thank you to the hospital staff who cared for him. Brave boy. What you say?
