HALO 3 Release Date

HALO 3 has officially been given a release date of September 25. Well, that's if you're in North America, at least - European citizens will have to wait a pointless extra day until September 26.

The announcement comes as Halo fans get their grubby little mitts on the multiplayer beta, which opens this week to those looking to do a bit of free labour in exchange for a first look at the game. Initial comments have suggested that, whilst the game now has a date, it's the graphics that are looking dated, with X360 owners familiar with Gears of War lamenting the lack of detail in the uprated Halo engine compared to the Unreal 3 Engine.

Most people expected Halo 3 to arrive in time for Christmas, to be the season's best seller, but we're all in for a treat early, it seems. Of course, the official date is rather a set back from the one originally announced by Bill Gates, who remarkably assured the press that Microsoft would launch Halo 3 on the same day Sony launched the PlayStation 3.

Microsoft Released HALO 2 for Vista!

Microsoft Games Studios today announced the eagerly awaited Halo 2 for Windows Vista, will be available across Europe on 8th June. The sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved brings Master Chief to Windows Vista™ allowing PC gamers to play the critically acclaimed Halo phenomenon against others for the first time.

Halo 2 for Windows Vista is a first person action shooter that takes place in the same science fiction universe as Halo, where humans have occupied numerous worlds due to the development of superluminal travel. More than 32 years before the beginning of Halo 2, the outer colony world of Harvest was destroyed by a collection of alien races, called the Covenant. Since then, the humans and covenant have been locked into a bloody war. Shortly before the events of Halo 2, the Master Chief heads to Earth after destroying a covenant fleet to warn of an impending covenant attack on humanity’s home planet.

The game features an expanded range of vehicles as well as other gameplay changes to its predecessor. For example, in Halo 2 for Windows Vista the health bar is no longer visible on-screen. Instead, health regenerates slowly, if the player is not taking a beating!

Halo 2 for Windows Vista also features more than fourteen human and alien weapons with players allowed to carry two weapons at a time, each weapon having advantages and disadvantages in different combat situations.

Friends Forever

To have a good friend is
one of the highest
delights of life;
to be a good friend is
one of the noblest and
most difficult undertakings.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the
kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual
inspiration that comes to us when we discover that someone
else believes in us and is willing to trust us.

Expedition 15 - NASA

Never Done Before!

210 miles above Earth, Expedition 15 crew member Sunita Williams attempted something no other astronaut has ever done. She ran the Boston Marathon while in orbit. Williams circled Earth at least twice, running as fast as eight mph but flying more than five miles each second, as she completed the Boston Marathon on a station treadmill. Her official completion time was 4:23:10 as she completed the race at 2:24 p.m. EDT Monday.

Williams ran under better weather conditions than her Boston counterparts. In Boston, it was 48 degrees with some rain, mist and wind gusts of 28 mph while station weather was 78 degrees with no wind or rain with 50% humidity.

Williams qualified for the marathon when she ran a 3:29:57 in the Houston Marathon last year. Her biggest challenge running in space will be staying harnessed to a specially designed treadmill with bungee cords. Williams says running on the TVIS which stands for Treadmill Vibration Isolation System can sometimes be uncomfortable. The machinery puts a strain on the runner's hips and shoulders. Link

Forbidding Mouring

Forbidding Mourning

(John Donne (1573-1631)

As virtuous men pass mildly away,
And whisper to their souls, to go,
Whilst some of their sad friends do say,
"The breath goes now," and some say, "No:"

So let us melt, and make no noise,
No tear-floods, nor sigh-tempests move;
'Twere profanation of our joys
To tell the laity our love.

Moving of th' earth brings harms and fears;
Men reckon what it did, and meant;
But trepidation of the spheres,
Though greater far, is innocent.

Dull sublunary lovers' love
(Whose soul is sense) cannot admit
Absence, because it doth remove
Those things which elemented it.

But we by a love so much refin'd,
That ourselves know not what it is,
Inter-assured of the mind,
Care less, eyes, lips, and hands to miss.

Our two souls therefore, which are one,
Though I must go, endure not yet
A breach, but an expansion,
Like gold to airy thinness beat.

If they be two, they are two so
As stiff twin compasses are two;
Thy soul, the fix'd foot, makes no show
To move, but doth, if the' other do.

And though it in the centre sit,
Yet when the other far doth roam,
It leans, and hearkens after it,
And grows erect, as that comes home.

Such wilt thou be to me, who must
Like th' other foot, obliquely run;
Thy firmness makes my circle just,
And makes me end, where I begun.

Energy Healing

Energy Healing - For Self improvement

You have probably come across exotic-sounding terms such as “chakra”, “prana”, “aura”, and “tantra” in your course of reading books on spirituality, sex, and healing in the New Age literature section of the bookstore. But what’s the real scoop behind these exotic vocabularies?

Are All Energy Healings the Same?

Chakra or energy center is a term used in Pranic healing, an ancient Hindu system of energy healing. “Prana” means life energy. “Aura” is another terminology traced to Pranic healing. Aura is a non-physical body that consists of energy, which exists along with our physical body. The aura that covers our body is said to have seven layers pertaining to the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of an individual as manifested by energy. Studying the color and thickness of auras give ideas on the state of health of individuals. Six colors are associated with aura and interpreted into six personalities. These colors are all present in an individual but one or two are more pronounced.
Green – ambitious achiever
Blue – spiritual peacemaker
White – unconventional chameleon
Red – activist
Orange – creative communicator
Violet - psychic

Although Tantra is popularly associated with the peculiar practice of sex and spirituality, it is another method of energy healing. It comes from the word “tan” which means to spread or expand. The concept of connectedness is a recurring theme in Tantric writings on sex and spirituality. As a method of healing, spirituality and sex figure prominently. It is presupposed that the union of man and woman can reach spiritual levels during orgasm, which removes the body and mind off collected impurities. These impurities being negative energies can in turn manifest as physical illnesses.

Unlike Pranic and Tantric healings, which have Hindu origins, Reiki originated from Japan. It is relatively younger than Pranic and Tantric healings having been rediscovered in the early 1900’s. Reiki stands for universal energy, an energy brought forth by higher intelligence. Students of Reiki are taught how to tap this energy to heal physical, emotional, and mental illnesses.

Although Pranic, Tantra, and Reiki are all systems of energy healing, they differ in the type of energy tapped for healing: life energy, sexual energy, and universal energy respectively.

The concepts of the connectedness of mind, body, and spirit; the connection of individuals to all living and nonliving things around them and to the universe; and how energy impacts physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being are some of the salient similarities of these three healing methods.

Why Do People Turn to Energy Healing?

Pranic, Tantric, and Reiki are considered alternative methods of healing. In spite of the availability and relative accessibility of modern medicine, how come more and more people are being drawned to them? Here are some possible reasons:

· Energy healing worked where modern medicine failed.

For several reasons both explainable and unexplainable, modern medical treatment failed to heal ailments and conditions in several if not many persons. Research or data may not be able to support this statement. But for the families of the dying as well as for the dying patient, they would take the risk of using alternative methods ranging from herbals and organics, faith healers, witch doctors, and New Age healing techniques just to be get well.

· People perceive modern medicine to be isolating.

Medical treatments are oftentimes focused on the disease and its causative agent, which can make a patient feel isolated and treated like a mere host of the disease. Although recent developments in hospital practice are gradually promoting the holistic treatment of a patient, the perception still persists. Unlike in energy healing, since energy and spirituality are intimately linked, the patient feels that all aspects of his health are being attended to.

· Energy healing is non-obtrusive and natural thus it is safer.

Repeated surgical procedures are physically and emotionally traumatic for most patients. It is but a logical and attractive option to both patient and families to look for less stressful health interventions. Moreover, with the rising popularity of New Age religions, going natural is the way to go.

· Energy healing is a good way of relieving stress.

Meditation is part and parcel of energy healing methods and this is an added come-on for highly stressed people. Moreover, sophisticated equipment is not required thus it becomes all the more convenient for students and future students of energy healing.

The battle between alternative healing and mainstream medicine continues as both present the benefits of their approach. But in the final analysis, what matters is the restoration of good health.

Silence Heals!

Importance of Silence

Silence is an aid to our health; it is a tonic to our happiness. Like many best things in the world people can have it free. Yet, how little people enjoy of it as they live in the age of noise.
Silence has unseen power. The nightfall creeps silently and the day breaks without noise. The silent snowfall makes no sound and the light passes through hard substances like glass making no noise.

But silence, as all other things, has other side of its picture also. While many of its uses are profitable there are few that can cause harm. The silent fall of snow can make a place beautiful. But too much of it can bring destruction. The water that evaporates silently to fall as rain is very useful for crops but too much of it can cause great destruction.

Meditative silence is as essential as food for our growth. To study you need silence, to recoup from illness you need quiet, to have a good change from business life you must run to a quiet resort. We cannot lead peaceful lives unless we think of peaceful thoughts. All the great teachers and sages of the world have taught that truth must be sought in solitude; not in business activities or human affairs but in the desert calm. When we meditate over our weaknes we learn to be strong. The time spent in contemplative silence will always be profitable. The business of the world will give us knowledge, but meditation will give us wisdom, which is far superior.

Silence is the temple of purest thoughts. Go to that temple daily, a few moments, and there you will hear the whisper of nature.

Love and Friendship

Love and Friendship

Emily Bronte

Love is like the wild rose-briar,
Friendship like the holly-tree;
The holly is dark when the rose-briar blooms
But which will bloom most contantly?

The wild-rose briar is sweet in the spring,
Its summer blossoms scent the air;
Yet wait till winter comes again
And who wil call the wild-briar fair?

Then scorn the silly rose-wreath now
And deck thee with the holly's sheen,
That when December blights thy brow
He may still leave thy garland green.
